I purchased my first issue of Toledo Streets Newspaper earlier in the year when we were attending a Mud Hens Game. The man was so nice and friendly….I decided to look at the website to find out more why they were selling the paper etc. So here is more of what you may wish to know-

Mission

To empower individuals struggling with extreme poverty to participate on a new level in the community through self-employment, job training, and contributorship.

Company Overview

Toledo Streets is a Toledo, OH based street paper founded to benefit those struggling with extreme poverty. As vendors, they sell the paper at a 75% profit to themselves to help supplement their income and learn to be self-sustaining. As contributors, they have the opportunity to have their voice - their opinions, experiences, and news - to be read by the the rest of our community in order to raise awareness of the issues facing those who are unhoused.

Description

Toledo Streets provides a simple, micro-enterprise opportunity for those struggling to make ends meet. We give people a hand up - not a hand out.

General Information

Paper sells for a dollar suggested donation. Vendors sell at a 75% profit to themselves as an alternative to panhandling, and are strongly encouraged to participate in the content & direction of the paper.

They really can use your help so here is what they need-

We've updated our wishlist! What we need most right now are badge clips and laminating pouches - 100 each. Angelic donations would be much-appreciated!
